Yellow-crowned Night Heron (Nyctanassa violacea)

These are two separate Yellow-crowned Night Herons we saw yesterday at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge in Sanibel, FL.  I thought the first bird had injured his wings, but he’s actually catching the heat of the sun to warm himself!
